About us

HR Wallingford is an independent civil engineering and environmental hydraulics organisation. We deliver practical solutions to the complex water-related challenges faced by our international clients. With a 65 year track record of achievement, our unique mix of know-how, assets and facilities includes state of the art physical modelling laboratories, a full range of numerical modelling tools and, above all, enthusiastic people with world-renowned skills and expertise.

HR Wallingford is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for hydraulic scale modelling. Having completed 180 modelling studies in the past five years alone, we are uniquely placed to understand the challenges faced by physical modellers and the demands placed upon modelling technology used in hydraulic laboratories.

Our comprehensive product range, designed to meet our own exacting requirements, includes deep and shallow water multi-element wave generation systems and the full suite of instrumentation and software needed to accurately and reliably gather and analyse results. With more than 65 years’ experience on our own modelling projects, our designs have been rigorously proven in use. For the past 25 years we have been sharing our technology and expertise with other model users, and are proud to have supplied equipment to more than 300 institutions worldwide.

Our innovative scientists and engineers keep our products at the leading edge of technology through a robust development programme. We also work with clients to help address specialised requirements, applying our know-how to develop tailored or bespoke solutions.

HR Wallingford is certified to ISO 9001: 2008 and  ISO 14001. All our products are supplied with the reassurance of a twelve month warranty and we also provide technical support and training.
