Simon is part of our specialist Equipment, Technology and Innovation team. We thrive on designing new technology and working to improve existing solutions. We use all our equipment  in our world-class Froude Modelling Hall, so we understand the challenging conditions and what physical modellers need from these systems.

Technology solving complex problems

Managing complex projects, both onsite and remotely, has taken Simon to more than 20 countries around the world. Highlights from this portfolio include long duration projects in India and the UK where we successfully supplied a bespoke new deep water hinged paddle wave generation and passive absorption systems for sea-keeping manoeuvring basins. 

Future plans 

The whole topic of renewable energy from the ocean is enormous. Energy recovery systems, from wave energy, current flow or tidal energy, can far exceed the potential for any other renewable source. However, the challenge is to make machines that can survive those extreme environments that the sea can generate. It’s a nut that hasn’t quite yet been cracked. We think in time it will be, and we consider renewables as one of the biggest markets for people who are using our technology to develop their designs.
